The Land of Lakes Choirboys

The Land of Lakes Choirboys' training program is like no other. It is a unique way to enrich a boy’s life -- a program where body, mind, soul and heart come together. Boys receive a musical education which is the envy of their peers. They are introduced to the great works of musical geniuses like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Vivaldi. Boys learn to sing melodic lines in perfect tune. They are also schooled in the art of harmonizing, note reading, phrasing, dynamics and rhythmic patterns. Choristers are trained to perform complicated musical works with sensitivity and artistry.

In addition the Choirboys are schooled in the art of "old fashioned" manners as well as in leadership, respect, behavior and honor. Along with quality music, the boys' conduct is an equal part of our trademark and reputation.

To start with, a boy must go through the Training Choir program so that we are sure he has learned our basic philosophies and methods as well as our expectations of him. Through this program a boy works his way into the Voyager Choir at his own volition and speed. Here he is introduced to the world of performing. His training and experiences in music and life skills in this program will serve him all his life.

If a chorister earns his way into one of the two touring choirs, he will experience incredible first-hand geography lessons through extensive travel throughout the United States and abroad. Acting as ambassadors for their State and for their nation, the boys have the opportunity to rub shoulders with some very successful and famous people. They gather experiences and memories that will prepare them to make the right choices as they decide on their future.

This character-building program is second to none. The boys learn to accept praise as well as criticism. They gain pride in themselves, in their community and their country. They learn about many different people, their cultures and their languages.
