Over Thirty Years of Tradition
Since 1976 the Land of Lakes Choirboys has been stunning audiences all over the world with its superb singing. Since its humble beginnings when eighteen Elk River boys gathered together for their first choir practice under the directorship of Craig Carmody-Anderson, the Choir has grown to an organization of over 100 boys making up six different choirs: the Prep Choir (boys 5-7), the Training Choir (beginning boys 8-12), the Resident Choir (local performers), two Touring Choirs (experienced choristers 8-14), the Nordic Choir (tours nationally) and the Viking Choir (tours internationally), and the Alumni Choir.

Annual Tours
The Performing Choirs have toured all of the forty-eight contiguous United States and Hawaii, parts of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and eleven European countries. Because of their extensive travels, the late Minnesota Governor Rudy Perpich dubbed the Land of Lakes Choirboys, “Minnesota’s Singing Boys”.

Top Quality Musical Performance
Winner of both the international Trebby Award 2004 and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Festival’s Overall Grand Championship Award in 2006, the Viking Choir of the Land of Lakes Choirboys has proven itself to be a true phenomenon in the international choral scene. Being the only boys’ choir outside of Germany to have received the honor of opening the International Bach Festival in Ratingen, Germany, in June 1999, with a full concert, the Land of Lakes Choirboys asserted its position as one of the finest boys’ choirs in the world by receiving a ten-minute ovation after a superb performance of a Bach Cantata. Critics rave about the choir’s pure and hauntingly beautiful sound and flawless intonation. Back home in Minnesota the boys continue to awe and inspire audiences with their unique sound and vast repertoire ranging from the Baroque to modern-day hits. Auditions
The Land of Lakes Choirboys is always looking for new members! Auditions are held throughout the year. They are relaxed and uncomplicated. No previous formal vocal training is required and the boy does not need to know how to read music. Boys who pass the audition are then invited to join one of the training choirs. Here they receive a music education that enriches a boy’s body, mind, and soul - a sound singing technique, exposure to a number of foreign languages, and exciting opportunities to travel, both nationally and internationally. The Choirboy develops confidence, poise, and pride in both himself and his country. Throughout the years, the choir has received recognition not only for its superb singing, but also for the politeness and excellent behavior of its Choirboys.
